Disability Equality Training.

Disabilty Equality Training is an indepth look at how disabled people are discriminated against in society today. The courses will explore issues around how opression has developed using the social model of disability as a starting point.  The social model of disability is a way of looking at society as a cause of oppression and discrimination, thus creating disability. 

The training will give participants (disabled or non-disabled) a chance to gain an understanding of disability equality issues, enabling individuals to take away practical skills and knowledge of current political opinions.

Courses one or two days and will cover some of the following:

  • The Social & Medical Approaches to Disability
  • The Language we use & the power it can have
  • Independent Living.  Choice & Control.  
  • Media Representation
  • Multiple Oppression
  • The Disability Discrimination Act
  • Practical Strategies & Policy Implementation
